Active Portable Bottle

Active Portable Bottle

Is this yours? 240 ml clear flask on a round base, one button, charges by USB-C. Runs a 6-minute cycle.

Quick fixes

No bubbles, or fewer than before

  1. Warm soak. Fill the bottle a quarter full with warm (not boiling) tap water and leave it for 1 to 2 hours. Tap water helps here because the minerals carry the current.
  2. Re-prime. With the warm water still inside and the lid off, run 4 to 6 cycles in a row.
  3. Check for a plug. Look inside at the plate at the bottom. If there is a small orange or clear silicone plug, remove it.
  4. Clean the plate. Cover the plate with white vinegar for 15 to 30 minutes, rinse, then run 1 to 2 cycles with warm tap water.

Light not coming on, or not charging

  • Use the cable that came with the bottle and a normal wall adaptor (5 V, 1 A). Fast chargers damage the battery over time.
  • Make sure the charging port is completely dry before plugging in.
  • A full charge takes about 3 hours; the light turns from red to green.

Leaking from the bottom

  • The silicone O-ring has usually shifted after washing. Check it sits flat and screw the base back on firmly by hand.

Common questions

Do I need tablets to use the bottle?

No. The bottle makes hydrogen from plain water using electricity. Hydro Shot tablets are a separate supplement.

How much hydrogen does it make?

About 1.7 ppm on one cycle and up to about 4 ppm if you run a second cycle straight after. Do not run more than two cycles back to back.

What water should I use?

Clean drinking water, cool or room temperature. Drink it straight after the cycle for the most hydrogen.

Does the part that makes hydrogen need replacing?

No. There is no filter to replace. The membrane lasts for years if it is kept moist; the battery is usually the first part to wear, and we can replace it.

How many cycles per charge?

15 to 20 cycles.

Care and cleaning

  • Flask: warm soapy water and a soft bottle brush.
  • Lid: hand wash in warm soapy water.
  • Base: never submerge. Wipe the outside and the charging port with a damp cloth.
  • Monthly or when bubbles drop: vinegar soak on the plate (see Quick fixes).
  • Storing it? Leave a little water in the bottle so the membrane does not dry out.
  • Don't: use a dishwasher, metal scourers on the plate, bleach or harsh chemicals.

Warranty and repairs

6-month warranty from the date of purchase. After that we repair bottles from R250 (service, new battery, new base or new flask). Use the form below to arrange a collection.
